Closed-loop Manufacture Using Recycled UK Polymer - Systematique

Systematique has designed a globally unique, low-cost, flat-pack fashion bust made from sheet Polypropylene (PP). This initiative aims to implement a closed-loop circular system for UK manufacturing using UK polymer recyclate, with recycling at the end of life (EoL). This project will involve sustainable design agency Wax RDC and manufacturer DS Smith to develop the design and calculate financial, environmental, and social benefits for customers and the UK. The goal is to address the issue of non-recyclable Glass Reinforced Polymer (GRP) busts, which emit over 280 tonnes of CO2-eq/yr and are largely landfilled, by creating a sustainable alternative made from recyclable materials.

Feedback Overview:

The idea of using recycled UK polymer for manufacturing fashion busts is innovative and addresses significant environmental concerns. To enhance the business value, Systematique should focus on building strong partnerships with UK-based recycling facilities and fashion designers. Additionally, marketing efforts should emphasize the sustainability and cost-effectiveness of the product to attract eco-conscious customers and businesses.
